I just stumbled on this blog while looking for info on that concert. It brings back great memories for me. I was there, too! I vividly remember the “East Street Band” posters tacked up on the phone poles in downtown Johnstown and my buddy scoffing over the misprint. I wish I had thought to snag one of them – it would be a great souvenir. It was my second concert ever. I had asked my friend to go to my first concert a few months earlier… KISS! .Yeah, dumb, maybe… but it was fun. Fortunately, he had older brothers who tuned him into what REAL music was and invited me to go see Bruce. With only AM bubblegum music in our house, I don’t think I had ever heard a Springsteen song sung by HIM.
It was a great show. I did recognize “Blinded by the Light and “For You”, since I had heard the Manfred Mann versions; but Bruce’s raw, passionate originals just blew me away. I’ve been a fan ever since but, like you, I think, I still like his old stuff the best. Greetings from Asbury Park and Born to Run are the absolute best, to me. Thanks for the memories. – Keith
