I thought it was weird but as everyone gets older and you realize it takes a lot of true guts to do that. That is what makes a true great artist! As old blue eyes (Frank Sinatra) once sang “I did it my way”

Thanks Dana for the memories!

I hate when singers put their own twists on it. It seems that most of them are just showing off their vocal talent and are not singing that way because the song moves them. Maybe it’s ironic that, in the land of the free, I don’t want anyone to feel free to mess around with the national anthem. To me, there are some things you just don’t mess with; “The Star-Spangled Banner” is one of those things. Having said all that, however, I really like Jose’s version. It was from the heart. Thanks for introducing me to it.

That’s one of the best, most moving versions of the song I’ve ever heard. As much as I love Hendrix, I can comprehend why some people criticized his version. It was drug fueled and represented a counterculture that was definitely not for everyone.
Jose’s version is simply beautiful, deserves more wide spread attention and exposure.C’mon Dana, take up the cause.
